Don Swaim Interviews

Audio Interview with Tama Janowitz

Tama JanowitzTama Janowitz, author of Slaves of New York and Peyton Amberg, enjoys how writing is not a 9 to 5 job. In this 1987 interview with Don Swaim, Tama Janowitz talks about her early days of writing, when she worked other jobs as well. Janowitz tells a story about a job she held as an assistant art director despite the fact that she had no art experience. Later, she took a year to write her first novel, and was not sure if it would work, but Slaves of New York became a bestseller, giving her an incredible feeling of satisfaction.
