Audio Interview with Lawrence Block

Lawrence Block, the Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America, talks with Don Swaim in this 1984 interview about his realization of when he wanted to become a writer, and his experiences in college. He also explains how he prepares and teaches writers in his seminar. Block is the author of many mystery short-stories and novels including the Evan Tanner novels, and is the recipient of many major mystery awards including three Edgar awards and four Shamus awards.

Lawrence Block, author of Telling Lies for Fun & Profit, Time to Murder and Create, Sometimes They Bite, Mona, Small Town and The Burglar series, speaks briefly with Don Swaim in this 1986 interview. Block gives his take on the mystery/crime genre, and the quality of the novels when considering how many are being produced. Block also takes the time to describe one of his characters, Matthew Scudder, along with the pros and cons of using series characters in novels.
