Don Swaim Interviews

Audio Interview with John Edgar Wideman

John Edger Wideman, author of The Island, Brothers and Keepers, The Lynchers, Glance Away, The Cattle Killing and many more, interviews with Don Swaim. Wideman had initially gone to college to play basketball with dreams of attaining NBA status. His sports career, however, gave way to his newly developed taste for literature. He earned a Rhodes scholarship and studied in Europe, later returning to the states where he attended workshops as he fine-tuned his writing skills. Wideman and Swaim speak of all this and more in this 1989 interview.
