Robert DeMott talks with Don Swaim about John Steinbeck, author of In Dubious Battle, Of Mice and Men and The Grapes of Wrath, in this 1989 interview. The two discuss the humanitarian impulses that lead to Steinbeck's book The Grapes of Wrath, which was written after he had done ground-breaking investigative reporting on the conditions of migrant workers in California.
