Edmund White, author of The Flaneur: A Stroll Through the Paradoxes of Paris, Fanny: A Fiction, The Beautiful Room Is Empty and more, is probably the boldest voice among authors to stand for gay rights. He challenged law enforcement to give fair treatment to himself and other gay people. His interview speaks of not only his writing experiences, but of his own oppressions he has encountered along the way.
